Ryan's Journey
Viewers and critics alike praised the pairing of Phillippe with Smirnoff for different reasons. One would be because they make the sexiest pair of the season, two because critics believe Ryan will do great, and three because Ryan will potentially be Karina's best DWTSGame partner yet. Ryan told us that that added tons of pressure to his dance.
In Week 1, Ryan and Karina danced a Cha-Cha-Cha to "Love Shack" by the B-52's. The judges liked it, with Judge Gavin Henson calling Ryan a contender. The judges awarded it with a 26 out of 40 for the night, landing them in fifth place for the night.
In Week 2, Ryan and Karina danced a Tango to "Tick Tick Boom" by the Hives. The judges were mostly mixed about the dance, with Judge Len Goodman telling Ryan he hadn't yet peaked in the competition. They were given 27 points for the night, landing them in a tie for tenth place with Clint Eastwood.
In Week 3, Ryan and Karina danced a Paso Doble to "You Give Love A Bad Name" by Bon Jovi. The judges mostly liked the dance, with Judge Valerie Hashburntar calling the dance sexy and goregous. They were given 33 points for the night, landing them in eighth place for the night.
In Week 4, Ryan ditched Karina to dance a Jive with Julia Roberts to "Maneater" by Hall & Oates. Together, they were praised for actually working as a couple and doing a very good job. The judges (including reigning champion Sandra Bullock) gave the dance 35 points. When they later danced to a Paso Doble to "Stronger" by Kanye West as part of Team Kendall (Schmidt), the dance went over better. The younger couples all worked powerfully and were fully in sync enough to make the judges (including former winner/host Kendall Schmidt) give it 37 points. They ended the night with 72 out of 80. On elimination night, Ryan found himself in the bottom-three alongside Beyoncé and Danny Trejo, both of whom were eliminated in favor of Phillippe.
In Week 5, Ryan and Karina danced an Argentine Tango to "Smack That" by Akon. The judges criticized the dance (with Len Goodman calling the song inappropriate) and gave it a 31 out of 40. Ryan and Karina then danced with the other couples left to a Salsa Marathon (with music provided by "Saca Tu Mujer" by Tito Puente). Ryan and Karina were eliminated third and in reward, got 3 additional points to their previous score, giving them a total of 34 for the night. Sadly, Ryan and Karina were eliminated this week along with Clint Eastwood.
