Eminem
Marshall Bruce Mathers III (born October 17, 1972), better known by his stage name Eminem or his alter ego Slim Shady, is an American rapper, record producer, and actor. Eminem's popularity brought his group project, D12, to mainstream recognition. As well as being a member of D12, Eminem is also one half of the Detroit hip hop duo Bad Meets Evil, with Royce da 5'9". Eminem is one of the best-selling artists in the world. He has been listed and ranked as one of the greatest artists of all time by many magazines. Including his work with D12 and Bad Meets Evil, Eminem has achieved ten number one albums on the Billboard Top 200. He has also sold more than 33 million track downloads and 39.6 million albums in the United States alone. Eminem quickly gained popularity in 1999 with his major-label debut album, The Slim Shady LP. The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP and his third major album, The Eminem Show, all won Grammy Awards, making Eminem the first artist to win Best Rap Album for three consecutive LPs. The Marshall Mathers LP is also considered one of Eminem's best and most successful albums. He won the award again in 2010 for his album Relapse and in 2011 for his album Recovery, giving him a total of 13 Grammys in his career. Eminem then went on hiatus after touring in 2005. He released his first album since 2004's Encore, titled Relapse, on May 15, 2009. In 2010, Eminem released his seventh studio album Recovery, which was an international success. Recovery was also named the best selling album worldwide of 2010 joining The Eminem Show, which was the best seller of 2002. Eminem has named Masta Ace, Big Daddy Kane, Newcleus and Ice-T amongst others as his influences. Eminem has opened other ventures since the beginning of his success. He founded his own record label, Shady Records with his manager Paul Rosenberg. He also has his own radio channel, Shade 45. Eminem began an acting career in 2002, when he starred in the hip hop drama film 8 Mile. The film won an Oscar for Best Original Song, and Eminem became the only rapper to ever win the award. He is also set to star in the 2013 films Shady Talez, Have Gun, Will travel and Southpaw. He has also made cameo appearances in The Wash (2001), Funny People (2009) and television series Entourage. Eminem's Journey
Parents were not fond of Eminem's casting. Many parents who watch the show with their children voiced that Eminem's behavior would be too obscene for the show. Eminem ignored the controversey; his partner, Kym, stated that he is actually not a very bad person (aside from occational swearing in training).
In Week 1, Eminem and Kym danced a Quickstep to "Peroxide Swing" by Michael Buble. The judges didn't hate it, with Judge Elena Grinenko saying Eminem was probably more suited for latin dances. The judges awarded it with a 22 out of 40 for the night, landing them in a tie for sixth place for the night with Anna Kournikova.
In Week 2, Eminem and Kym danced a Samba to "I Like To Move It" by Reel 2 Real. The judges did not like the dance, with Judge Len Goodman calling it a disaster. They were given 25 points for the night, landing them in twelfth place for the night.
In Week 3, Eminem and Kym danced a Paso Doble to "Roman's Revenge" by Nicki Minaj (featuring Eminem, himself). The judges mostly hated the dance, with Judge Valerie Hashburntar saying the dance had been ruined by Eminem's attitude. They were given 20 points for the night, landing them in last place for the night. Come elimination night, Eminem had something he wanted to announce to the audience. The two days spent trying to prepare for his hopeful descent into week 4 were virtually impossible. Eminem was completely discouraged to even return to the dancefloor because he felt that the judges would never stop criticizing him and never give him a decent score that he felt he deserved. For those reasons, Eminem withdrew himself and Kym from the competition on Saturday. In the process, there was no bottom-two for the men as they were all immediately pulled through to Week 4.
