Danny's Journey
Parental viewers had two thoughts on Trejo preseason. 1: He was not very well known to most. 2: For those that do know him, he is a very bad role model in films. When told of this, Trejo laughed and said "that is the exact opposite reason why I play villains in movies." Dancewise, Danny admitted he was having some trouble but was working through it.
In Week 1, Danny and Ashly danced a Cha-Cha-Cha to "I Need Your Loving" by the Four Tops. The judges criticized it, with Judge Bruno Tonioli saying that Trejo had 'machete hands'. The judges awarded it with a 19 out of 40 for the night, landing them in eighth place for the night. Danny and Ashly landed in the bottom-two for the men with Bob Saget and Edyta Sliwinska. Danny and Ashly were saved as Bob and Edyta were sent home.
In Week 2, Danny and Ashly danced a Tango to "Midnight Tango" by Arthur Murray. The judges were mostly mixed about the dance, with Judge Valerie Hashburntar saying he walked like Frankenstein. They were given 23 points for the night, landing them in a tie for thirteenth place with Debra Jo Rupp. Danny and Ashly again found themselves in the bottom-two this week with Mark Henry and Liza Van Pelt. Danny was again saved, as Mark was sent home.
In Week 3, Danny and Ashly danced a Paso Doble to "La Virgen de la Macarena" by Canadian Brass. The judges were mixed about the dance, with Judge Elena Grinenko saying she did not like the dance at all. They were given 22 points for the night, landing them in thirteenth place for the night.
In Week 4, Danny ditched Ashly to dance a Waltz with the legendary Betty White to "The Rose" by Bette Midler. Together, they tried their hardest, yet the judges did not fully praise the dance. The judges (including former contestant Nicole Kidman) gave the dance 28 points. When they later danced to a Rumba to "Alone" by Kristin Chenoweth as part of Team Kamie (Crawford), the dance did not go over well, either. The older celebrities (Danny included) weighed down the romance of the dance to make the judges (including former winner Kamie Crawford) only give it 30 points. They ended the night with 58 out of 80. On elimination night, Danny found himself in the bottom-three with Beyoncé and Ryan Phillippe. He was eliminated along with Beyoncé.
