Beyoncé's Journey
Coming fresh off of a Season 4 win with Sandra Bullock, some viewers were annoyed with the fact that Derek Hough had been yet again been given another very-worthy-of-winning partner in Beyoncé. Beyoncé laughed and admitted training was actually pretty tough.
In Week 1, Beyoncé and Derek danced a Cha-Cha-Cha to "Crazy In Love" by Beyoncé, herself. The judges all loved it, saying only Beyoncé could dance to that song greatly. The judges awarded it with three 9's and a 7, giving Beyoncé and Derek a 34 out of 40 for the night, also landing them in first place for the night. On the results show, Beyoncé and Derek were asked to perform the first Encore of the season with their Cha-Cha-Cha.
In Week 2, Beyoncé and Derek danced a Viennese Waltz to "Lighters" by Bruno Mars, featuring Eminem. The judges were mostly mixed about the dance, with Judge Len Goodman saying Eminem's verse to the song ruined the elegance of the dance. They were given 33 points for the night, landing them in third place for the night. Things got crazy as it was announced that Beyoncé and Derek were in the bottom-two that week along with Debra Jo Rupp. Rupp was the one eliminated, though.
In Week 3, Beyoncé and Derek danced a Waltz to "You Light Up My Life" by Debby Boone. The judges mostly liked the dance, with Judge Valerie Hashburntar calling the dance incredible. They were given 34 points for the night, landing them in seventh place for the night. Again, the crowd was mad when Beyoncé and Derek were announced to be in this week's bottom-two along with Cameron Diaz this time. Like last time, Diaz was eliminated and Beyoncé and Derek got to stay.
In Week 4, Beyoncé ditched Derek to dance a Cha-Cha-Cha with Denzel Washington to "Forget You" by Cee-Lo Green. Together, they were praised for their excellent job as a team and making the dance stand out as truly memorable. The judges (including former contestant Ke$ha) gave the dance 38 points. When they later danced to a Rumba to "Alone" by Kristin Chenoweth as part of Team Kamie (Crawford), the dance did not go over as well. The older celebrities weighed down the romance of the dance to make the judges (including former winner Kamie Crawford) only give it 30 points. They ended the night with 68 out of 80. On elimination night, Beyoncé was awarded the encore again (along with Denzel Washington) for their Cha-Cha-Cha. The audience got mad when Beyoncé was announced to be in the bottom-three, again, this week along with Danny Trejo and Ryan Phillippe. The crowd got into a riot at Beyoncé was eliminated along with Trejo.
